CBI Magnum 4800 Grinder
Unlike tub grinders, the horizontal feed system on the CBI 4800 features the safety advantage of an enclosed grinding chamber eliminating the hazards of flying debris on the job site. With a horizontal forced feed system, material fed into the machine does not bridge or birds nest before coming in contact with the rotor. At 88,000 pounds and equipped with an 880 horsepower Caterpillar engine, the CBI 4800 is more than capable in meeting the demands of tough wood waste and stump grinding tasks.
Excavator Mounted
Flail-Type Mower

Most of our competitors use 12 metric ton excavators. Northern utilizes a 16 metric ton excavator for its mower applications. The advantages are increased working horse power, more draw bar pull for climbing hills, sufficient lifting capacity for moving mats, 28" pads as opposed to 24" pads

Northern also adds a 6 cylinder, 155-horse power (as compared to a 4 cylinder, 125 horse power) auxiliary engine enabling the mower to mow heavier brush without waiting for engine recovery.

Flail-Type Mower
The Flail-Type mower reduces small trees and brush into a small shredded chip that is broadcast evenly over the grounds surface.

Unlike the Hydro Axe rotary type mower, the Flail-Type head when mounted on an excavator is able to mow up to and around obstructions such as rocks or posts, reducing or eliminating the need for follow up operations by ground personnel. Chip discharge is directed generally downward, making this machine safer than rotary type mowers.

Excavator Mounted
Flail-Type Mower

An excavator mower working from swamp mats in a wetland. With cables attached to the mats, the operator is able to move the mats with the mower head by swinging them from behind the machine to the front. This enables the mower to proceed into new material as it mows.
In this photo the mower is working on top of a peat like sediment that is over 24 feet in depth. This organic sediment has accumulated in this lagoon since 1927. The lagoon was drained in the summer of 1999. Small trees and brush grew in from the edges and needed to be removed prior to the excavation of the sediment.

Excavator Mounted
Flail-Type Mower

The excavator mounted flail-type mower evenly disperses a uniform shredded chip that decomposes rapidly. The chips have the added benefit of providing a temporary mulch on the grounds surface that prevents soil erosion and aids in dust control during dry conditions.

John Deere 648 Series Dual Arch Grapple Skidders
Morbark Model 20 Track Chipper

Mounted on a 325-L CAT undercarriage with 30-inch pads, the Morbark's Model 20 is a versatile component of Northern's equipment lineup for right-of-way clearing operations. The discharge spout rotates 220 degrees enabling the operator to fan chips evenly over the work site. The operator controls all functions from within the cab.

With 20 inches of clearance and a ground speed of up to 2 ½ miles per hour, the Model 20 is an ideal unit when traversing rugged terrain and processing the whole tree at the stump.

Morbark 1000B Trailer Mount Loader

The M1000 with a CTR slasher maximizes timber salvage yields at the staging area helping to reduce clearing costs. The M1000 is also instrumental in maintaining productivity and material movement at the staging area.

Morbark Model 30
Whole Tree Chipper

Northern utilizes Morbark's Model 30 whole tree chipper for superior productivity in our land clearing operations. With an 800 horsepower Caterpillar power unit, the Model 30 ensures efficient conversion of whole trees to chips. The knuckleboom loader features 25 feet of reach with a lifting capacity of 20,000 pounds at 10 feet.

Timbco 425 Feller Buncher

Northern Land Clearing utilizes the 425 Timbco Feller Buncher in our lineup of modern land clearing equipment. The 425 is equipped with 28-inch pads to minimize damage in sensitive areas. The Timbco 425 features a leveling cab, enabling the unit to operate safely on slopes of up to 55%.

Timbco 820 Forwarder
The Timbco 820 Forwarder is instrumental in the placement of swamp mats and road building operations in wetland areas. The Timbco accommodates a large payload, up to 14 twenty-foot mats per trip. Other features: Large width grapple eliminates damage to mats
* 360 degree house swing
* Versatility; transports skid tanks, flume pipe and other materials, in addition to forwarding stumps, brush, trees, and logs on return trips maximizing efficiency with loads both ways.
* Builds rock walls in 1/3 the time of an excavator with a thumb attachment.
* GPI with tracks:
Front axle empty = 6.27 psi
Front axle with maximum load = 6.66 psi
Rear axle empty = 3.70 psi
Rear axle with maximum load = 9.35 psi
